Producer, singer and percussionist Mo Kolours releases his soulful debut album, after a trilogy of EPs for One-Handed Music. From the steel drums of ‘Little Brown Dog’ to reversing electronics of ‘Lighter Break’, ‘Kolours’ shows a producer moulded by a wide range of influences, though his soulful and relaxed vocal delivery on the majority of the album’s cuts gives it a vital sense of consistency. For highlights one is spoilt for choice, but looking towards the twisted acid funk of ‘In Her Eyes (Funk Heart)’ or the charmingly messy dub of ‘Shephard’ seems as brilliant a starting point as any.
