Berlin duo Sawlin and Subjected are back with three more helpings of stark, heady techno for Electric Deluxe. On opener ‘Texture 1.1’, big, abrasive kicks barrel through a wasteland of distortion and windswept effects, while a restless acid-synthline circles overhead. ‘Texture 1.2’ is even harsher, a lone snippet of first track’s synth twisted into a siren that signals a turn for the sinister. ‘Texture 5’ offers a tiny bit of relief in the form of looped electronics and an almost melodic organ that add some much-needed variety.
