Dark Entries unearth another hugely interesting release, the 1991 LP Matter from Uwe Schmidt (Atom™ & Señor Coconut). Acting under his Lassigue Bendthaus guise, Schmidt explores the territory between industrial music and EBM whilst using advanced electronic production techniques. Opener ‘Automotive’ is a gurgling, grooving piece that pairs harsh drums with precise electronic programming whereas ‘Transitory’ ups the tempo for a pacey electro-styled piece that sounds like a cross between Drexciya and Front 242. Recorded and mastered by long-time collaborator Tobias Freund and housed in deluxe packaging, Matter reveals another edge to this tireless artist.
