Prostitutes continues a strong series of releases in the wake of his EP for Diagonal with the second part of ‘Truncheon Cadence’ for Mira records. ‘An Enormous Door’ is a blast of breeze-block techno played through faltering equipment, with distant sirens piercing through crackly surface layers, and ‘Rigid Pathetic Heaps’ plays with similar elements, employing some finely-judged dub stabs. Though the somersaulting cymbal crashes of ‘Bomb Splinters’ impress, the lolling weirdness of ‘Smouldering Wilderness’ comes across strongest, recalling Delia Derbyshire in its use of what can only be described as a sci-fi jig.
