FaltyDL returns to Planet Mu for the first time in over a decade for a new LP entitled Neurotica. A lot has changed for the now Brooklyn-based man in the time since: fatherhood, his work as a rap producer, and the launch of his own imprint all factor into the work on Neuortica, but the real skeleton key is a semi-obscure piece of juiced up euro-pop Falty heard during a summer in Catalonia. The track’s breakneck speed and soft, cloud-like vocals triggered something within him, and the balance between those plays out across some of the most hyperactive tunes in his entire oeuvre. The breathless ‘Speed’ certainly comes as advertised, but it’s the shifting ‘Con Air’ with airy reverb thrown all over the sonic field that really works as proof of concept.
