Edinburgh three-piece Magic Eye make their proper debut on the excellent Not Not Fun label. Members Alex, Bek and Roma’s euphoric, otherworldly sound is equally influenced by shoegaze and experimental pop, and benefits greatly from NNF’s instantly recognisable sonic stamp. Gorgeous opener ‘Japan’, quite traditional in form, is filtered through chasmal reverb and emerges a positively psychedelic experience. Vintage synths, shimmering guitars and heavenly vocals cut through the haze on ‘Flame’, and ‘Golden’ is an ecstasy-inducing blend of blissful harmonies and spacious licks.
