Long Time Italian jazz player Cristiano Crisci aka Digi G’Alessio launchs his new Clap!Clap! project with a woozy EP of African tribal rhythms on Black Acre Records. Opener ‘Elon Mentana’ begins with a dubbed afro-beat groove before developing into a mind-melting piece complete with synapse-singing synth patterns; ‘Tambacounda’s White Magic’ and ‘Tambacounda’s Black Magic’ carry through the bass-heavy, African sample-centric approach. The up-tempo ‘Kaluma’ closes with a toxic concoction of repeating chants and quick claps (think MMM meets Cut Hands).
