Producer and DJ Max Cooper gears up for his debut album on the FIELDS imprint with second single ‘Impacts’, backed with incisive remixes from Gabe Gurnsey of Factory Floor and Perc. The original relies on propulsive hi-hats and gun-shot claps to achieve a result both minimal and brutal, with Gabe Gurnsey cleaning up some of the track’s rougher edges for a slinky acid remix. Perc’s brutal re-imagining of the original is, however, the stand-out, with atomised bursts of degraded bass frequencies, noisey percussion overload and ravey synths trading off in an unpredictable yet totally compelling manner.
