Pearson Sound is known for meticulously-programmed club numbers, particularly on the estimable Hessle Audio imprint he co-runs, but this short self-released single sees the producer focus on the melodic side of his work, with no beats involved. The two parts of ‘Raindrops’ consist of successions of bubbling analogue synth attacks, which occasionally coagulate into patterns resembling a groove, before dissipating once more. Though both sides are variations upon very similar material, ‘part 1’ keeps its droplets crisp, and ‘part 2’ allows the sharp attacks to blur and produce a sustained wash.
