Manchester producer Bryn Jones left a huge legacy when he died in 1999: his prolific drone/industrial back-catalogue suddenly became even more collectible, and anyone lucky enough to own one of the limited runs found themselves sitting on a goldmine. Luckily his long-term label Staalplaat have dusted off this later rarity from 1997, allowing a new generation to hear Jones’ perfect balance of Middle Eastern source music and dub conjuring tricks. ‘Turkish Berlina’ comprises ten untitled but unique slabs of hauntological sounds where the titular evil spirit has been swapped for a genie.
