Untold is a producer who has always walked his own path with a fierce intensity. Right from the beginning, with earlier tracks like 'Anaconda', he has showcased a way of stitching together incongruous sounds and jolting rhythms that pack a punch like no other and can turn dance floors dizzy in the most unexpected of ways. Black Light Spiral sounds just as relentless as anything else he has done - sirens, fierce low-end, bludgeoning rhythms all pulled together for maximum impact - and when this sound is paced out within the framework of a full length album the result is brilliantly alien.

'Drop It On One' crawls forward, drowning the listener in churning swells of bass and piercing sirens. The rough slabs of 'Doubles' thump with menace, while 'Strange Dreams' snarls like a caged animal. The influence of classic jungle, hardcore, dubstep and industrial-grade techno is clear, but all these tropes are chewed up and thrown together with such brave ferocity that the result can only sound fresh. Black Light Spiral is an extraordinary record; one that sacrifices none of Untold's rough potency as a producer while creating an immersive world perfect for the album form.
