New York/Oslo dance duo Michael & Mattis release their debut EP for Hivern Discs. Both productions here borrow heavily from some of the 90’s most recognisable tracks. On ‘Hoes Before Bros’, layer after layer of melodic samples are piled atop a sped-up A Tribe Called Quest snippet, as if the producers were builders crafting a tower tall enough to reach dance floor heaven. ‘Hokey Pokey’ finds a snatch of 2Pac’s 'I Get Around' layered with heavy kick and 303 bass to create a tropical-flavored slow burner. Swedish duo Genius Of Time also tackle the title track, forgoing the samples in favour of a leaner, stripped-back take.
