Yong Yong’s second LP is a funked-up and woozy collection of analogue electronica, one perfectly in sync with their new Glasgow hometown and its stories of drowsy late-night discos. Fans of the Drive soundtrack will find much to love here: ‘Troubles’ is College’s ‘Real Hero’ with more poignant synths and a Dutch vocal sample in place of Electric Youth; ‘Umani’ takes a churning stylophone and ramps it up into electric post-rock; and ‘Cobraz’ is a deep ambient hymn that mixes chiming church bells into a dark horror score. Like a Ghost Box LP with the melodies and experimental parts polarised, ‘Greatest It’s’ is one letter away from an accurate fit for its title.
