Portraits GRM present a delicate coinflip of a record, where François J. Bonnet’s active ‘Banshee’ piece glides above water while Sarah Davachi’s subtle and submerged ‘Basse Brevis’ revels in stillness. Inspired by the landscapes of the Inner Hebrides, ‘Banshee’, trickles and gingerly steps, with gentle soft wails of strings as if the notes fly on the coastal winds, shivering and soaring over the depth of the low drones. The blurry sheen of ‘Basse Brevis’ mirrors this with its muted brassy tones, giving a plaintive yet anthemic feeling to chords stretched across a reflective timespan.
