Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations label have bagged this third EP from Newcastle DJ Patrick Topping, who looks set to go global with this latest set of hi-fallutin’ house tunes. His time in Ibiza has given him a more Balearic direction, with the disco-paced ‘Get Beasty’ weaving around a pulsing bass line, some cheerleader samples and slinky chopped-up keys. On the B-side ‘Strights Up’ hooks a fiercer beat around a low, brooding melody to imagine a pumped-up science fiction theme, while ‘Stop’ lashes you with bursts of pitch-shifted vocals, like Burial set to automatic fire. A guaranteed mood-lifter.
