Following their unearthing of works from K. Yoshimatsu, Phantom Limb dive further into the subversive DIY world of DD. Records, a hidden bastion of 1980s Japan experimentalism. Original copies of the label’s final release, Disk Musik, before parting ways in 1985 are rare to come by, selling for a steep price and bearing the kind of minimal packaging that betrays they had no clue just how coveted their catalogue would become. The compilation is instantly idiosyncratic, with Circadian Rhythmn’s mesh of voices slamming by surprise into an oncoming train of angular psychedelic guitars, leading to the leftest fieldest of glitchy sound collages combined with the pop creativity of tracks like ‘Egg’ brimming with outlandish fun.
