Ten years since their first collaborative LP Automaginary, Joshua Abrams’ Natural Information Society band and Cooper Crain’s Bitchin Bajas reunite for another round of their “all-world jazz” dunked into a cosmic synth soup. Totality sees the two groups painting a picture of oneness, wading into the gentle ebb of starry keys and synths, cymbals and bass plucks tiptoeing in as saxophone throbs with the oscillating frequencies of continuous drones. Performers spin global folk and classical instruments into a swirling downtempo mixture of cosmic jazz, with buzzing percussion, drums and bass speeding up their gait and melting into the stream of electronics.
