Showing his prowess as a producer even with his earliest material, Amon Tobin turned heads with his debut album as Cujo in 1996. Adventures in Foam adds a leftfield charm to the flowing structures of breakbeat and nu jazz, combined into a swirling mixture where lush, smooth, smoky jazz lounge samples are thrust into action by frothing rhythms. The 90s’ jazzy swagger lurches into stampeding queues of bass pluck scrambles and tumbling, glitched out breaks on ‘Traffic’, punctuated by saxophones like arguments between car horns as the rhythms work out the road rage with loops of crashing cymbals and rolling drums.
