Aaron Funk - best known for his work as Venetian Snares - collaborates with Toronto artist Joanne Pollock as Poemss for a full-length album on Planet Mu. Though Aaron Funk is perhaps best known for his hard-pummelling beatwork, Poemss' album is a different beast entirely, a silky, smoothly flowing collection of gossamer-fine ballads that ebb and flow with a dreamy, mystical quality about them. 'Bedtime' is a twinkling lullaby while 'Moviescapes' is deep and lushly produced music to sink under. 'Gentle Mirror' contains more rhythmic drive, but is still warm and soothing. A change of musical direction for Funk, but not an altogether unwelcome one.
