Legendary Japanese producer/visual artist Yuri Suzuki makes his debut on the Detroit Underground label with a new compilation entitled Border. These tracks date back to 1990’s teenaged sessions from his parent’s home in Tokyo where he conjured up hyperreal rave nostalgia despite never stepping foot in a warehouse (as of yet). Tempos flare, 303s (or at least a wonderful facsimile) squelch with noticeable glee, and what few vocals that cut through are pitched way down, placing this loving tribute well within the beloved lineage of motor city machine funk and acid.
