Underground US noise rock artist James Donadio continues his plunge into the world of clouded techno though his Prostitutes alias. Teaming up with Shifted and Ventress’ imprint Mira, Donadio uncovers part one of a two part series entitled Truncheon Cadence. As with previous releases on Opal Tapes and Powell’s Diagonal, Truncheon fits into the darker end of the techno spectrum, shifting from bleak, minimalistic drum patterns on ‘Unanswered Questions’ to the dry, accelerated peak-time bomb ‘Led Up The Garden Path’. Whirling noise makes up ‘This Whole Affair Is So Fucking Unfair’ whereas ‘Odd Dog End’ progresses over a bubbling, rubbery bassline.
