Kompakt provides the next instalment of its much-loved Pop Ambient compilation series for 2014, assembling pieces from some of its staple musicians. After a 6-year hiatus, Kompakt favourite Ulf Lohmann returns to book end the compilation with the new-age inspired, uplifting ‘Sicht’ and the similarly epic ‘PCC’. Thomas Fehlmann (The Orb / Palais Schaumburg) supplies the rich, drifting slice of ambience ‘Treatment’, full of distant keys and faint distortion. As well as contributing his own track ‘Ruckverzauberung 8’, label co-founder Wolfgang Voigt also provides a timeless remix from his Gas alias of The Field’s ‘Cupid’s Head’ – a dense blend of atonal electronics.
