Detroit sound designer/producer Rod Modell returns to the 13 for a new collection of icy and environmental ambient music entitled Northern Michigan Snowstorms. While merely built up from little more than a few loops, some synth pads, and field recordings of Midwestern forest snowfall, Modell still manages to encapsulate both the feeling and the sound of winter in the upper regions of Michigan. Each track is titled after a different small town in the area, so the album is best heard as a whole to appreciate the full sonic experience.
