Portuguese newcomer Helder Russo jumps straight out of Lisbon with a solid debut EP on the impressive Groovement, back by a soulful remix from Detroit’s Niko Marks. Opener ‘J Lack Track Man’ is a shimmering tech-house cut, equipped perfectly by a contagious vocal hook, with ‘I Don’t Know’ driving through an insistent, acid bassline and airy vocals. A rumbling undercurrent combines with sizzling synth chords on the ecstatic ‘More’ whilst Niko Mark’s remix adds some catchy keyboard-based Detroit funk to compliment the soulful vocals.
