LIES (Long Island Electrical Systems) record label head Ron Morelli follows up his album ‘Split’ with four cuts that didn’t make the final album - given the accolades his debut record won this places them ahead of the average house 12” B-sides. ‘Public Consumption’ takes a John Carpenter synth soundtrack and toasts it in waves of static; ‘Another Hit’ chops up analogue slabs into a rapid-fire version of the Blade Runner outro; ‘Rushing Again’ shakes maracas over an eerie oscilloscope drone. Conjuring the same vintage but invigorating vibe as his album, ‘Backpages’ is a solid standalone release from Morelli.
