Falty DL graces the estimable Ninja Tune imprint with two rough-edged cuts which are nonetheless achieved with a precision and sense of purpose characteristic of this revered producer’s work. ‘Danger’ sees DL focusing upon breakbeat tropes, with a breeze block drum-and-bass ground subjected to subtle filtering which renders its effect intriguingly static, as if glimpsing the rhythmic rush at a distance. ‘King Brute’ is the real highlight however, a gritty throbbing techno number with alarm cowbells, and sharp gargles of sub-bass pushing each other on and on.
