This deluxe edition of Modeselektor and Apparat’s second collaborative album as Moderat, complete with a live DVD, comes issued by Modeselektor’s own Monkeytown Records imprint. In addition to the strength of the original album, bonus tracks like ‘Last Time’ are a real treat, where subdued trap beats and analogue synths underpin a gloriously heart-on-sleeve vocal. Cuts like ‘Bad Kingdom’ are a reminder of the duo’s versatility, where they come close to the Burial’s production in their melancholy employment of rave and garage tropes, though achieved with Berlin precision rather than via saturated distortions. An excellent album worth revisiting, and for those wishing to get a sense of the group’s live show, an absolute must.
