Sub Rosa present a truly fascinating album that sees a stellar cast of contemporary experimenters - including Einstürzende Neubauten frontman Blixa Bargeld, Faith No More's Mike Patton and composer Teho Tehardo - orchestrate the seminal piece 'Intonarumori' (Noise Intoner) by Italian Futurist Luigi Russolo. The first performance of the piece took place in 1913 at Modena's Teatro Storchi in Italy, initially inspired by Russolo thoughts that silence would be forever a thing of the past in the age of machines. The clatter and hiss of metallic sounds on record here still show the power of that idea, and make for a bracing and involving piece of music.
