Bleep

Much like its references in time, T. Gowdy’s third album Trill Scan restlessly zips back and forth, never settling into a definable sonic era. Gowdy’s years spent mastering the lute are reflected in an expansive retooling of Medieval sounds and schools of thought: archaeo-music coated in sci fi jitters, esoteric knowledge glossed in digitality. It’s not a “going back” so much as a “bringing forth”, as syllabic choral structures are underpinned by throbbing bass, holographic plucks scribble particulate melodies, and long streams of gritty drones soon bristle with subtle blasts of rhythm, percussion punctuating the gradually unfolding intrigue.
