It might sound like some bulging multi-artist compilation but don’t be fooled: ‘Thug Houz Anthems 2’ by Unknown to the Unknown’s DJ Haus contains just four cuts of his own work, and sounds all the sharper for it. His second such release inside a year, it’s as infectious on the dance floor as you’d have predicted, with sample-studded kwaito beats on ‘Get Wid Tha Flow’; a piano-driven ‘90s rush on ‘Touch Ur Body’ and funky but seductive bass melodies on ‘Smell Tha Phonk’. The title track combines all of the above in style, marching low synths around a 4/4 rhythm and roof-raising vocal samples.
