In March 2013, the acclaimed club night and music development platform, CDR (Create, Define, Release) teamed up with Dimensions Festival to embark on a producers project. An open call for music makers was launched, the brief focused on creating a soundtrack to the festival which compliments the line-up and reflects changes in mood and tempo from daytime, evening, night and on to sunrise. Submissions came from all over the globe, and were tested out during CDR sessions in London, Berlin, Copenhagen and elsewhere. The compilation opens with the meditative, light as air strings of Johnboy Brown's 'Reflection (original)' before sinking into the silken pop of The Energy, while next track 'Knifin' Around' is a digital maze of 8-bit mutations. 'Bill and Ted' by Donald's house is mellow slice of rock-steady house, and later comes '1m' from Mahs, a similarly wide-eyed piece of swelling dance-floor bliss. 'Shadwell' from DJ Cl_yde pushes harder, a dark piece of rolling techno and Hugo Slime's 'Up One Level' is a smoky piece of deep house in the vein of labels like Underground Quality, but with a hint of acid flex. It's a varied mix, but one brimming with raw talent.
