In 2011, when Brighton experimental electronic producer Louis Johnstone created Wanda Group, you might have been forgiven for thinking it was just another alias to go with Dem Hunger, The The, GG Alien and Tiger Piss. Over a series of envelope-pushing LPs Johnstone proved everyone wrong, this latest of which is no exception. ‘How to Learn How to Concentrate’ begins with hellish sea noises like block of debris jostling in high tide, and then dives into dark, intermittent static - think Xela when he got into horror concept work. The B-side ‘No Mouth or Transparency and Variable’ is even stranger and feels like a microphone being pulled through a central heating system. Spooky stuff.
