'New York, New York' was written by DeeKay Jones back in 1981, a rough cut of wired early house with a deep swing to it that seems to take some influence from the early days of hip hop. It still sounds experimental even by today's standards, buzzing synths and tear-away slabs of noise scattered amongst its tinny rhythms. For this resurrection of the track on Shaddock, we also get a Hercules & Love Affair Vs Ha-ze Factory remix, which sets it chugging with more of a hard disco edge. The two further productions from DeeKay Jones that make up the release are also incredible, particularly final track 'Feel It In Your Gut' with its deep, rumbling pulse and off-kilter sax.
