Finders Keepers sub-label Cacophonic! release a recording from the seminal 1960 and 1962 Music For Mathematics Showcase Project, one of the earliest instances of computer generated muisc. Max Matthews was a tutor to many other seminal electronic composers (Suzanne Cianni included) at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and was a pioneer in his own right of computer programming in musical composition. The tracks on show here vary from the charming lilt of 'Bicycle Built For Two', the spidery bleeps of 'Three Against Four' and a surreal version of 'Joy To The World'.
