UK Producer and co-organiser of Manchester’s excellent Hoya:Hoya label and club night Illum Sphere is hard to pin down, with releases taking influences freely from dubstep, rave, house and techno in a manner which is increasingly common for a younger generation of artists. ‘Sleeprunner’ takes a sci-fi acid bass line and slows it slightly, taking away accompanying percussion to make it resemble something more cinematic, especially with the addition of subtle vibraphones and swells of orchestral strings. Zed Bias’ remix focuses the original into a tauter dance-floor variation, as does Illum Sphere’s own rework, which is a battering onslaught of industrial kicks.
