Composer Gordon Chapman Fox’s Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan project returns to Castles In Space for a new EP entitled A Shared Sense of Purpose. Continuing on the more explorative and electronica-minded path of the preceding Most Central Location LP, Warrington-Runcorn runs through several versions of the title track here along with a b side. The single edit kicks things off on a propulsive and cerebral note, while Vince Clarke of Erasure adds high drama and syncopation on his remix. Most fascinating of all is the closing ‘1973 Version’ which swaps out the synths for lush strings and solemn finger-picked acoustic guitars.
