Samuel Evans aka Rain Dog presents a suite of lush electronic numbers which lovingly skew traditional song formats for the Project Mooncircle label. The cuts featuring guests come across strongest, with ‘Nexus’ creating luxurious layers of pitch-shifted vocals from Robert Koch’s croons, and ‘Once’ submerging a secretive but commanding delivery from Tomika. Rain Dog’s production throughout is impressive, with ‘Nerves Like New Thread’ juggling dense drum patterns and warm textures beautifully, and ‘Regolith’ achieving a similarly smooth sound which recalls Bonobo or Mount Kimbie.
