German ambient legend and sampler king Holger Shüring has a slew of out of print albums in his back-catalogue, a fact Herbert Gronemeyer’s Groenland label are putting right one release at a time. This latest introduces his 1981 classic LP ‘On The Way To The Peak Of Normal’ to today’s electronica fans, who should immediately recognise the seeds of Hot Chip in the tight, trumpeting krautrock of ‘Witches Multiplication Table’, and the Jahtari-like space reggae on the churning ‘Ode to Perfume’. A bigger influence than many care to admit, this is a chance to grab a lavish reissue of a much praised but seldom-traded classic.
