Detroit house godfather Theo Parrish returns to his own Sound Signature imprint for a new 12” entitled Traffic Jams. Conflating the congestion of cars in the city with the ailments of the body and soul, Parrish calls inflammation, blood clots, and other issues their own kind of traffic jam, and the closing title track here plays with that motif in its mechanised, seam-showing groove. The front side’s ‘Positive Mental Attitude Solves All’ posits a world where keeping the mind right influences the body, a fitting tribute to the late Amp Fiddler, indeed.
