A subtly enveloping release of oriental-tinged electronica from London producer Asan on new music and clothing label DPPLGNGR. 'Japanese Game Code' takes the cerebral side of IDM and takes it somewhere different, throwing crackling 8-bit and gaming sounds into the mix. The curious dub techno of '8-bit Gameplay' peppered with video-game blips and bleeps dissolves into the jittery ambience of 'The Picture Puzzle Door' and 'To Cure The Soul' is just as gently healing as the title implies. The stand out though is opening track 'Don't Mind If It's True' which trickles through the brain like a cool, soothing balm.
