Brighton producer Ital Tek presents a new mini-album for Planet Mu, ‘Control’, which draws more heavily on the accelerationist dance templates of footwork and drum and bass than his previous work. The title track pays homage to the tuned skittering footwork percussion that could be found on the label’s seminal ‘Bangs and Works’ compilations, but with a woozy quality that recalls Flying Lotus, which is even more present on ‘Violet’. ‘Fireflies’ takes washes of Oneohtrix Point Never-esque synth vocals and layers them on a rhythmic framework which implements a footwork half-step in the fills of a rolling drum and bass line to intriguing effect.
