Classical imprint Erased Tapes bring core artist Nils Frahm back into the fold with the new full length ‘Spaces’. The record is largely comprised of the solo piano meditations upon which Frahm has built his reputation, which draw upon the American Minimalism of Philip Glass in their pure, soundtrack-like quality. ‘Over There It’s Raining’ effectively douses the piano in a layer of rain-like hiss, while the open and close of the album show the possible, more far-reaching possibilities of Frahm’s sound, with ‘An Aborted Beginning’ pitting the piano against a cave of reverb.
