The Flashes EP is French producer Low Jacks’ debut LP for In Paradisum and sees the producer pushing the perimeters of house and techno to their very limit. The distorted, corroding weapon ‘Flashes’ begins brutally, aligning an intermittent stomp to a flurry of mechanical haze whereas ‘Your Soul’ smothers gleaming ambient chimes in a blanket of tape hiss. On the flip, ‘Don't You Know’ is an assault on the eardrums; offsetting an unrelenting analogue stomp with soulful R&B vocals while final cut ‘Sweet Cheater’ is a similarly wild endeavour into the outer echelons of hardware-driven noise.
