Andrea Belfi and Julia Reidy team up for a new collaborative LP on the Marionette label entitled dessus oben alto up. Recorded during a joint residency at the German arts institution Callie’s, the duo utilise the expansive environs of the converted 19th-century machine factory to craft electroacoustic bliss and jazzy improvisation with plenty of depth. Belfi handled the drums and other percussive elements here, adding a steely pulse and rhythmic heft to Reidy’s treated and digitally altered guitars to great effect. The collection’s title also provides the tracklist, with the gargantuan closer ‘up’ taking up the record’s entire b-side with its oceanic wash.
