Detroit bred Jay Daniel is still a relative unknown outside the Motor city where he is currently a resident at Fundamentals alongside Kyle Hall. However, debuting on Sound Signature is sure to turn heads, joining demi-gods such as Omar S and the 3 Chairs collective. The four-track EP is up to the required standard, combining grubby kicks with wheezing synths on 'No Love Lost' and throwing down raw drum workouts on 'Brainz'. 'Bubble Cougar' marks the most melodic moment, rotating simple chord stabs over cosmic interference.
