Willie Burns' (Trilogy Tapes, L.I.E.S., Creme Organization) Black Deer project release six tracks of dynamic exploration. More experimental than the largely straight up - though always interesting - dance music he's released in the past, it's an album that feels more personal, from the emotionally charged, glistening arpeggios of opening track 'Highway' to the expansive ambience of 'Tortuga', the shadowy strum of a guitar underscored by machine haze.
