Yes you read that right, Mos Def & Talib Kweli are (once again) Black Star. Helmed quietly in hotels and dressing rooms all over the world, the legendary hip hop duo quietly pieced together their sophomore collaboration in plain sight while the world had no idea what was coming. Here we are some 25 years after their star-making debut, and much has changed in the world of hip hop. Individual success and accolades have come and gone in the time since, and yet the duo (along with fellow traveller Madlib who produced every track) sound more at home together than they ever did alone. Friends and compatriots Black Thought and Yummy Bingham soak up the good vibes and spar admirably with these two titans, but Black Star’s the reason why you came, and they meet the challenge with palpable glee.
