Following a previous collaborative single with Punch Drunk label boss Peverelist, entitled ‘Bells’, Hodge returns to the seminal Bristol label for his first solo outing on it, producing his strongest material to date. ‘Resolve’ contains all the rolling tribal swagger that the recent Livity Sound compilation collected so potently, with ghostly breakbeat percussion sounds being sculpted into a distinctly UK take on shuffling techno. B-side ‘Prototype Fear’ keeps on shuffling but adds a burrowing eroded cowbell line and subtle bass squelches which make it a more substantial offering than the obsessive A-side.
