Naarm trio Dregs creep into ethereal atmospheres with their debut self titled album. Full of dubbed out trip hop with a unique post punk mindset, the segueing tracklist gives the feel of a dusky basement gig, descending into the heart of lurching bass grooves, elongated string bends, and organic drum beats. Gnarly guitar riffs and chunky drum fills rip through one of the many choice cuts ‘Keyed’, with staccato musings contrasted by gaseous vocals, while clanging smashes of percussion and buoying bass sink into the ambient dub waterscape of ‘Underwater Dub’. Very highly recommended from the Bleep crew.
