Maelstrom is back on Central Processing Unit with some of his most jittery and leftfield electronics for the label yet. The FM Tapes pulls from his fine selection of electro bangers for CPU, and pushes them into furious, metallic, experimental directions, like the opening cut ‘Ondes Courtes’ with its buzzing and drilling cycles of ominous, stygian tones and shots of noise. What follows are active and expressive soundscapes of tumbling laser cannon blasts, pitter patter crystalline percussion over splashes of electro rhythm, and moody commanding basslines offset by wondrous starry synths.
